SECRETARIAT ADMINISTRATIVE CIRCULAR NO.18.
Refund of Outward Passage Fare on Resignation.
The operation of General Order 197(5) is suspended and the following rules are substituted therofor until further notice:-
1.
An officer on probation or agreement whose passage and that of his family, if any, to the Colony have been paid from Government funds and who resigns from the service during his first tour before the expiration of his tour or agreement is required to refund to Government that proportion of the cost of the outward passages which the uncompleted portion of his tour bears to the full tour.
2.
If a female officer resigns in similar circumstances in order to get married, she or her husband is required at the time of hor resignation to deposit a sum calculated on the same basis. If the officer then continues to serve on a temporary month to month basis after her marriage and completes the period necessary to finish her tour the deposit will be refunded. If she does not complete the full period she will receive a proportionate refund of the deposit.
3.
An officer not on his first tour of service who resigns after returning from leave before completing half his normal tour will be required to refund half the cost of the outward passage which has been paid by Government in respect of himself and his family, if any. An officer who resigns after serving for more than half his normal tour since his return from leave will not be required to make any refund.
